Not 10. Not 25. Not 50. ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE.

How bad does a car have to suck to be left off this list?

( Only one Chevy and one Toyota make the truck/SUV list.)

I’m so sick of car classes. I get why manufacturers create them to compete and measure against one another, but it’s just ridiculous — the small/midsize crossover segments are the worst offenders. Everything overlaps everything else and no company seems willing to even think about ceding anything to competitors.

Basically that’s why we have 125.

If enthusiasts wrote these things, it would be more like “10 best platforms” and you could discuss the best execution (like the specific model/engine) within the body of the article.

The worst are the EV reviews and comparison...which usually pit an EV against other EVs. That will make sense 50 years from now, but for the moment we need to compare them to ICEs. Or minivans to 3-row crossovers. Or small SUVs to hatchbacks. And so on.

Modern car-based “SUVs” should definitely not be in a separate list from cars, at this point.

They could have grouped all these into far fewer than 125, but they’re driving clicks toward actual cars for sale.

That’s even lamer than the Times’ dual endorsement. At leas they cut the field down to two.

The list would be a lot slimmer if they didn’t have each trim level as a separate entry.

Yeah, it’s clearly just to drive clicks to actual cars for sale.

I think the E-class is about 25 of these.

If it weren’t so specific it would pretty much be an industry wide buyers guide. I always have liked their simple pros and cons of the vehicles.

I saw a Bonneville SSE in traffic the other day, in really good condition, and thought of C/D. They really lavished praise on that car once upon a time.
